Winter is the time to rest, restore and reflect. Yet we often make resolutions that require us to DO more. This goes against the laws of nature.
What if instead, we honored the seasonal way of life and made resolutions that require LESS to doing and more harmonizing. As the old sages wisely said, follow the path of least resistance, my friend and open to the abundance all around you.
(3) Resolutions that honor Winter:
1) Take a break from social media and stop comparing yourself to others
Social Media and the relentless need to be seen and “liked” can have a profoundly negative impact on your sense of self worth and overall life satisfaction. Instead, try taking up the lost art of calling a friend or perhaps better yet send a handwritten letter in the mail.
2) Stop complaining
Start by paying attention to your thoughts and just observe how many times you want to complain or how quickly you get sucked into a gripe session being led by others. Notice the more you engage in this negativity pattern how it literally drains your energy while also making you feel helpless and frustrated. Instead, try to catch yourself early and stop that train of thought before it gets moving too fast. Instead of spewing a complaint, sit back and just notice it and then intentionally let it go. Be easy with yourself in this process, negativity can have some pretty well worn paths! Laughter helps ;)
3) Accept and Appreciate
The roots of contentment live here. It can be especially challenging when you can’t understand why someone else would be making choices that are making your life exceedingly difficult. The NERVE!! These are the times when you find yourself screaming WHY!!! into your pillow. From there it’s easy to go down the victim track. But, if you think of difficulty as energy then resisting it clearly creates constriction, darkness and inflammation while acceptance allows it to move through and out. Accepting things allows them to move and the body to let go and open to new possibilities. Profound healing can happen here.
*Mantra’s and/or EFT tapping are great ways to start. A perfect set up phrase is, even though this is not okay, I wonder what else is possible? I am resourceful and resilient. I know the universe has my back. I am infinitely resourced. I’m willing to surrender and let go. I choose to align with my highest perspective. I open to new possibilities.
